I was unable to wear my wedding rings from the time I was about 3 months pregnant. This was a huge bummer for me. I LOVE my wedding rings. I never took them off prior to this. I slept in them, did dishes in them, cleaned in them, did EVERYTHING while wearing them. I love them. When I was about 3 months pregnant, however, I had to take them off. I put them in the safe in their box so they would stay safe until I could finally wear them again. I bought random bands at Walmart to wear just because I felt so naked without it!
So, after I had Barrett I could not wait to be able to wear my rings again! So, several weeks after I had him, and I felt like most of the swelling was gone, I decided to try them on. My knuckles are bigger than the rest of my fingers, so I always have to get my rings over my knuckles, so I did just that. They went on basically like they always did before. But they felt tight once they were on, so I thought I should take them back off. Uh-oh. They didn’t want to come off. What the heck?? So I went and got Isaac, and told him what was going on… we tried the string trick we had seen on facebook – no luck. We tried lotion, soap, butter, and anything else we could think of. Nothing worked. I was starting to panic. I was on the verge of tears. Isaac, however, thought it was funny. Seriously? Not funny! My wedding rings were stuck on my finger! I called my parents because I was in full panic mode now… still no success. By now my finger was starting to swell and change colors… To make a very long story short, Isaac stayed home with Barrett while my dad went with me to the emergency room to get my wedding rings cut off. My wedding rings I had waited so long to be able to wear again – I had to have them CUT OFF!

It was a good thing we did… because there was no way those rings were coming over that swollen finger. But, my poor rings….

The doctor assured me that we should be able to take the pieces to a jeweler and they should be able to put them back together… but it broke my heart! I had my original engagement ring, my wedding band, and an additional band my sweet husband got me for our first anniversary. Now, they were all cut into pieces… heartbreaking!
But, luckily I was feeling much better mentally by this time and was able to laugh it off once the ring was off and I had calmed down a little. Only me…
