So… I’m a little behind!! Forgive me… I’m trying to get this whole being a mom, keeping the house clean, cooking dinner, working, etc thing down… 🙂 I’ll try to start where I left off…

Barrett got lots of fun, new toys for Christmas and has had quite the time playing with all of them. He is just getting to the age where he can really check them out and kind of “play.” Hoot and Honey got him his first car… red just like mommy’s first car! He is hilarious in it…

Mommy and daddy got him a new “tummy time” mat. Its definitely not his favorite gift… but he’s getting some use out of it! 🙂

But, since he can roll from his front to his back, he usually ends up looking up at me like this…

A few days later he also got an “excersaucer” – he really likes it! Of course, his attention span is pretty short, but he gets his feet going and learned really quick how to make the music play. When he has his Nikes on he gets really good traction and really gets going!

January 3rd was a big day for us…. Barrett slept in his crib in his room for the first night! He had slept in his room for the past 2 weeks in the crib he had been sleeping in since he was born… but, this was his real bed in his own room!! It wasn’t as bad as I anticipated… and I actually got some sleep! 🙂

After doing some reading, I made up my mind that I was just going to give him a bottle and when it was almost gone, I would lay him in his bed and let him finish it. Then, I would turn on his sound machine, give him his binky, and leave the room. I don’t think anyone thought I was going to be able to do it that way, but I stood my ground and did exactly that. He cried for a while, but eventually fell asleep. It has gotten easier every night since!
One night, not too long after he was sleeping in his crib, I told Isaac “Okay go put him in his bed, give him is binky, and then leave the room and shut the door.” He asked “why me???” haha. I told him because I’ve been having to do it and it was his turn. He couldn’t believe he had to just put him in there and leave. He asked if he was supposed to pat his chest or anything??? Haha.
I watched him on the monitor and wasn’t sure he was going to be able to do it, but, after a little bit of chest patting, he left the room and shut the door. We watched Barrett on the  monitor, and he went right to sleep.

We also went on our first ski trip as a family of three! It was a group trip… there were about 10 of us all together, but it was Barrett’s first trip not only to Meme and Pa’s cabin, but also to the mountains.  Uncle B had gotten him a Patagonia for Christmas, so he was able to get some good use out of it in the mountains!

We are so blessed with the sweetest, happiest, most handsome baby boy!!
