Bright and early Friday morning we started off Pioneer Days (and Meme’s 75th birthday) right with breakfast with Meme, Pa, and Honey. Daddy and Hoot had to work… 🙁
Little man wore his boots… we didn’t try for the cowboy hat too early in the weekend, just in case he might get tired of it before the rodeo!
and after we were done eating… Barrett got to “ride his first horse!”
He is seriously the absolute cutest cowboy I have ever seen…
We went home for a bit before the Rotary BBQ and he crashed… right in the middle of the living room floor! Tired baby!!
After the BBQ, we went to Honey’s and hung out with Uncle B and Hoot for a while. Uncle B got lots of lovin’ from Barr…. This melts my heart!
Then, Friday night, Isaac and I went to BB&B and Barrett stayed with a babysitter who was not family for the first time ever. I was surprisingly laid back about it and wasn’t actually worried a bit. It definitely helped that his sitter Camry is so sweet, responsible, and good with babies! She is the daughter of Amy – who’s home daycare I went to when I was little…. until I was big! AND Barrett will be going to Mrs. Amy’s when school gets out…
Camry and her friend Isabelle took great care of Barrett and I know he had a blast getting all the attention from two pretty girls!
Isaac and I went out and got to see lots of people we hadn’t seen in a while. My mom and dad (Hoot & Honey) went to our house and stayed with Barrett so we could hang out! They are wonderful and I don’t know where we would be without them! 🙂
Then, Saturday morning we went to the parade. Poor Barrett was worn out from the previous day’s events… and really just wanted to take a nap during the parade. We went inside for the first 5 to 10 minutes to avoid the sirens… Barr’s sensitive ears did not appreciate them. He hung out for a bit… but then his NeNe (Jeanne Miller) came and got him… and he fell asleep on her!
At least we got a few pictures first….
Then, after the parade, we celebrated Meme’s 75th Birthday! She is one of the most precious people in our lives… and we really wanted her to have a great birthday! I hope that I am half the woman she is with even just a little bit of her spunk at 75!
We didn’t do good at taking pictures during her celebration… 🙁 and no one realized it until everyone was gone!
Barrett and I were able to get a little nap in before we headed to the rodeo Saturday night. He really liked it… until it started!
He was really checking everything out until the first buzzer went off! He did not appreciate that one bit! We got to see the pucker face… and even a real tear or two!
He really enjoyed himself when it wasn’t so loud… Honey fed him some of her hamburger bun and he was hilarious! He made the funniest faces..
Then, he started getting tired again… so mommy got some snuggles! My favorite!
We called it a night after the rodeo and hit the sack…
And Sunday, we did some more resting and recuperating! I don’t even think I was this physically exhausted last year at Pioneer Days when I was pregnant and it was 100 degrees! It took a toll on us this year… but we sure had fun! It is crazy to think that next year we will have a 1 … close to 2 year old to keep up with! Oh my!
These snuggles were the perfect end to a wonderful weekend with so many of the people we love! We are so blessed!
