Barrett is 15 months old and until a few weekends ago I had NEVER been away from him for more than ONE night, and even then I was in town – he just stayed the night with Hoot and Honey. But, I guess it was bound to happen at some point… So, I helped a friend with a wedding in OKC one weekend… I was gone Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We were really busy pretty much the whole time so it wasn’t too bad… But it wasn’t easy for this mommy! We face-timed a couple of times so that made it easier, but I was really excited to get home to him! I couldn’t wait to see how excited he would be to see me. But, apparently he woke up croupy onSunday morning and it got worse as the day went on. When I got home around 1:30 he sounded AWFUL. He couldn’t even be excited to see me because he felt so bad. He had a fever and a horendous tight croupy cough. He just pitifully put his hands out for me to hold him. We did a breathing treatment in hopes of loosening up the junk in his chest but it didn’t seem to do anything…
So we just cuddled the rest of the day. I absolutely loved all the snuggles but hate for my baby boy to be sick. 🙁
The next morning I took him to Dr. Randhawa in Liberal – who we love by the way – and he admitted Barrett to the hospital. Apparently this croup and what he identified as “strider” can turn very serious very quickly. He wanted him to get some extra strong breathing treatments and spend some time in a cool mist tent, so he and I headed to the hospital in Liberal. Isaac headed that way and hoot and honey came.
Barrett was NOT impressed with the bracelet they put on him.. He kept pointing at it and looking at me!
He looked SO cute in he hospital gown. Sad… But precious! I wanted to get a pic with no diaper and his cute little booty hangin out but I never did.
The treatments really perked him up … So he got a little wild for a bit. He really wanted hoot to finish his fries so he fed them all to him and laughed and laughed.
He was not impressed with the cool mist tent… So we all had to get in. And…. We might have gotten in a nap or two! 🙂
He is the most precious baby boy and it hurts my heart to see him hurt. I’m so thankful for Dr. Randhawa and his staff, and everyone at the hospital for the awesome care and for helping my little man get well quick. We were able to come home Tuesday morning and he is like a new kid! You can definitely tell he feels better!
While we were resting at home on Tuesday, uncle B came over and read some books to Barr. So sweet.
I’m so glad little man is feeling better! 🙂
