Today was the big day…. and that it was! We found out we are going to have a sweet baby boy in August and we absolutely cannot wait! It was such a fun day. We all went to Liberal and piled into Dr. Knudsen’s waiting room. We were there a while, and I had a very full (painfully full) bladder, but we eventually got in. One of the ornery nurses came out with a sad/worried look on her face, and said “I have some bad news. Our sonogram machine just broke.” – I think I smacked on the shoulder fairly hard. (Oops) Then, she just cracked up… and said they were ready for us to come on back. She’s lucky I didn’t empty my bladder right there and then burst into tears! They are so fun there!

Dr. Knudsen looked around for a while, and showed us lots of our baby’s parts that are developing. I included a couple of pictures below. Isaac hadn’t been with me to the doctor yet since he started a new job a few months ago and doesn’t really have days off, so I think it was a pretty surreal experience for him. It’s so crazy to go from seeing a little peanut on the last sonogram printout we got (months ago) to actually seeing a living, moving baby on the screen – especially when it’s your own. He’s an active little guy – probably not going to be able to sit still like his daddy. Uh oh! 🙂 He moved his left arm around –  up and down the entire time we were looking at him. When Dr. Knudsen would try to get a good 4D picture of his face, he would put his arm right in the way – silly little guy. He already has a little personality and it is absolutely precious!

 Look at that sweet face….

Such a hard life in there… He kept putting his hand on his forehead like he was just absolutely worn out. Silly little guy.

 It’s a boy!!

This one is a little hard to see, but it’s his arm and his knee… he kept tucking his knee all the way up by his head and then he’d wave his arm around some more.

When Isaac was little, he asked his mom if they could change his name to “Van Damme” after Jean Claude Van Damme. So, for several weeks now we have been calling the baby Van Damme – that can stick until we decide what his name is really going to be. After that, it’s out. 🙂 But it’s better than always having to call him “him” – and it’s what his silly daddy wanted his name to be when he was little.

I had this big plan for the cutest pictures with Isaac and I having a “pink” or “blue” silly string fight – but when we actually took the pictures, you couldn’t see the silly string color very well – so, this is what we got! 🙂

I am usually a very organized person, and always have things ready to go days before I will need them. I really have a case of “pregnancy brain” right now, however. I never knew that was a real thing, but our baby boy is making me a believer. I thought about picking up the silly string and stuff (both colors) several times throughout the last week, and again this morning. I was laying there waiting for the doctor to come in the room, however, and I remembered that I didn’t get any or really do anything else I had planned to do for this big day. My mom was shocked that I didn’t have everything ready to go and her and my dad got a pretty good kick out of me and my “pregnancy brain.”  Oh my…. Is that one of those things that is supposed to get progressively worse throughout your pregnancy? I could be in big trouble if so.
