This was yet another crazy weekend, just as we knew it would be! Not only was it Easter, but today, April 20th, is actually my baby brother’s 21st Birthday. I can’t believe it. My sweet little blue eyed blonde haired baby brother turned 21. I have always thought it was so dumb when adults said things like that – and here I am saying the things I’ve always disliked to hear people say. Now that I am pregnant and think about how fast my baby boy is already growing (when he isn’t even born yet) I can’t help but feel the same way. Time goes by so fast!! It really does seem like just yesterday me and Braxton were just little kids without a care in the world. We went to eat at Eddie’s on Saturday evening to celebrate this milestone and it was absolutely wonderful. Just what me and our sweet baby boy needed! Then, we all met at Bob’s Bar for drinks (well, I had water) at midnight to really celebrate. We brought out quite the crowd, and I think Braxton had a good time. Isaac’s sister Denise and her two daughters Henley and Kennedy also came to visit this week and spend Easter with the family. So her and Jeff went out with us also. It was so fun to hang out with everyone, even though this pregnant girl was pooped by closing time!
We got up and went to church this morning and then had dinner with Meme and Pa, my parents, and brother. Then, we rushed to Isaac’s grandma Alta’s for a second dinner – perfect for me and baby! 🙂 We took the girls to an Easter egg hunt and played cards at his grandma’s house. Braxton had to head back to school in Stillwater, so we had to say bye to him which I always hate, but I’m so glad we got to see him and celebrate his birthday.
I went to the doctor on Wednesday for my monthly checkup and Dr. Knudsen said the baby is growing just fine and everything looks great. I have to include a funny story from my visit, though. The nurse called me back and I got on the scales. Of course this is no woman’s favorite thing, but at least while I am pregnant I have an excuse for gaining some weight. Well, I definitely did that! When she went to write my weight in the chart, she said “Let’s go do that again.” I went back to the hall and got on the scales again (eyeroll) and they read the same. I asked if there was a problem, and she said that put me at 12 pounds for the month. Wow! 12 pounds! She took my blood pressure and told me the Dr. would be in soon. I prepared myself for a lecture from Dr. K, but when he came in he assured me it was just water weight and I would probably lose weight the next month.
From my records, I only show that I gained 8 pounds this month, 1 a week for the first three weeks and then 5 the last week, but theirs show 12 total. Either way, I was a little shocked when I had to go weigh again!
Next month I will do the glucose testing for gestational diabetes and some other things at my visit. I have heard lots of horror stories about this testing, so I am hoping all goes smoothly and is no big deal!
We have finally decided on a name for our baby boy. His name is Barrett James Lively. I love it. Every time I say it or think about it I like it even more. I think it is absolutely precious and yet so fitting to Isaac and I. However, now that we have decided on a name, that just makes me all the more anxious to meet him! I know it will fly by – we have something going on every weekend for the next month and then it will be time to get the nursery done and wait for his arrival. But I cannot help being a little anxious to meet our sweet baby Barrett. I have a feeling (considering his actions in my stomach right now and all the time) he is going to be every bit as rambunctious as his daddy – oh my!
